Here is the list of our tasting bar wines for Friday, August 22 & Saturday, August 23: |
(please note this page is updated every Thursday)
On Friday and Saturday, we salute to the international harmony created by the Olympic spirit with a selection of wines from some of the great wine-growing regions of the world...France, Italy, Germany, Spain, the United States, and Australia.
Chateau Soucherie Anjou 2007 (France) $15.99
100% Chenin Blanc from the Loire Valley of France, this new vintage of a customer favorite has a little more citrus fruit than the previous vintage, but still finishes refreshingly dry.
Inama Soave 2006 (Italy) $14.99
Lush tropical and apricot fruit are the highlights of this decadent little wine. Pair this with the salmon or pork roast you've got planned for the weekend.
Loosen Brothers "Dr. L" Riesling 2007 (Germany) $12.99
Looking for white peach and honeysuckle? Look no further! This is the essence of summertime quaffing, and it pairs well with hot, spicy barbecue dishes.
Armantes Garnacha/Tempranillo 2005 (Spain) $10.49
This wine from the Calatayud region of Spain is made up of 90% old-vines Garnacha and 10% Tempranillo. The aromas are powerful and rich with vibrant blueberry, blackberry and raspberry fruits. The palate is incredibly concentrated and shows a great depth, ripe tannins, and a wonderful elegance and lightness. Open this bottle with sausages, roasted meats, and cheeses.
Clif Bar "The Climber" Red (United States) $19.99
The US is a real melting pot, and so is this wine. This bottle is a lush mouthful of Zinfandel, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petite Sirah.
Thorn-Clarke Shotfire Ridge Shiraz 2007 (Australia) $19.99
This is classic Australian Shiraz with a deep ruby-red color, a nose of anise, mint and dark raspberries, and a palate of plum, oak and licorice. You can open it tonight or let it sit in the cellar for several years.

Back-To-Reality Mega-Tasting September 13th
Our "Back to Reality" Mega-tasting is scheduled for Saturday, September 13th from 1pm to 4pm. We've checked the football schedule...UNC isn't playing that day, NC State has an away game (vs. Clemson), and Duke (yeah, well, Duke...there's always hope). Anyway, we'll have at least 20 wines open...wines from the US, Australia, Italy, Spain, and South America. It's a great way to taste a bunch of new stuff, learn about new wines, and forget about the fact that summer is over and we all need to get back to reality. Also at the Mega-Tasting will be our friends from the Stick Boy Bread Company in Fuquay-Varina. Stick Boy Bread originated in Boone, NC and they've recently opened a fantastic location in Fuquay where they make unbelievably good artisanal breads and pastries. You can check out their web site at www.stickboyfuquay.com.
Special Langmeil Flight Night September 17th
For our Wednesday Flight Night on September 17th, James Lindner from Australia's Langmeil Winery will be at Anytime Wines. You'll probably recall the Langmeil "Three Gardens" GSM which we featured on our tasting bar on Father's Day weekend. Well, now you'll get a chance to sample several wines from the Langmeil collection, and meet and speak with one of the folks responsible for these great wines.
